It's Okay to Disconnect From Work
Do you find it hard to disconnect from work to take a vacation or really enjoy your personal time?
Even though you're feeling tapped out from juggling it all and you know you need a break. Or maybe you're dreaming of vacation days and some downtime and fun with your family and friends.
I get it. It can be hard to disconnect sometimes.
But it’s important and easier once you just decide to do it!
I experienced this last week, when my husband and I travelled to Vancouver for our daughter’s university convocation.
This was also at a time with lots going on at work, the book launch, and wrapping things to up get ready for our summer vacation.
While sitting at the airport, I was thinking maybe I could squeeze in an hour or two while away or still be checking email to keep things moving forward.
I then caught myself and decided in a moment to just let work go and be present.
We don’t get to see our daughter often since she lives far away, my husband and I hadn’t been on a trip on our own since pre-covid, and nothing in business is so urgent that it can’t wait!
When you disconnect when on a trip or on the weekend, you can be present in the moment and with the people around you, and truly enjoy your personal time.
Work will be there when you get back; these moments won’t.
Imagine what it would be like to truly enjoy your personal time while still accomplishing what matters at work, especially during the summer.
This comes with intentionally designing your days (yes, even with the constant demands and messy everyday life).
In a video I recorded, I talk about how to intentionally set yourself up for your best summer ever, by better balancing your work, personal life and vacation time, with more joy and less stress!
I share common challenges and a fresh perspective, questions to figure out what YOUR best summer would look like, and tips to make it easier to disconnect.
