How Do I Balance it All? I Don’t!

August 20, 20243 min read

I’ve spent the past few weeks at our cabin, enjoying the peace that only nature can offer. We’ll be heading back to the city soon, and I know I’ll miss my daily morning coffee by the lake!

But even within those peaceful moments, the everyday messiness of life was never too far behind because — let’s face it — life doesn’t take a vacation.

As the season begins to shift, I’ve been thinking a lot about how to navigate the inevitable transitions and demands that come with a busy life, especially as we get back into the school routine with kids and projects start ramping up.

Life can feel like a constant juggling act, especially when you’re a leader or working parent with too much on your plate. You’re not alone in feeling overwhelmed and stretched thin, trying to be everything to everyone.

But here’s the truth: you don’t have to balance it all.

Instead, we can prioritize better and say no a whole lot more. We can let go of the guilt and worry that consume our precious mental energy. We can be more present in our lives and stop feeling so darn stressed out and overwhelmed.

It’s not about being perfect—it’s about being intentional.

As we move into the next season, I want to help you be more balanced in your busy life and as a leader (I share some upcoming opportunities below). But first, let me be clear . . .

My life is NOT perfect, and I never want it to seem that way. Just like yours, it’s filled with ups and downs, and not all of that makes it into an email or on social media.

But even with the constant demands and messiness of everyday life, we can navigate our days with more focus, calm, and ease.

Here’s what can get you started (with some of recent posts from LinkedIn) . . .

Live and Lead with Your Values

Your values are your compass. When you lead with them, you make decisions that align with who you are and what truly matters to you. This makes it easier to prioritize what deserves your attention and let go of what doesn’t.

Also, I have a recent post on how being perfect is overrated here.

Or Learn It All In My Book, Your Balanced and Bold Life: Work Less, Live More, and Be Your Best. I'd truly appreciate an honest review on Amazon or Goodreads.
