Are You "In Between" Right Now?
Are you “in between” right now?
Maybe it’s a change in your career or joining a new team. Maybe it’s letting go of a relationship that is no longer meant for you. Perhaps it’s working on being calmer and more present with your kids in the everyday moments.
Or maybe you’re like me and stepping into your next level of growth, which is exciting AND scary.
A time of transition.
You know where you’re headed (or at least have a sense), but you’re not there yet. You know what really matters to you, but you’re still letting go of what matters less.
You’re in between who you were and who you’re becoming.
Like nature — we go through seasons.
Sometimes it is unexpected, like a hurricane or an unusually hot summer. Often it is predictable, like when it changes from Fall to Winter. Like this time of year.
The water is still flowing in the lake. There is snow on the ground and an icy feel in the air. On an overcast day, the scene seems ominous. On a calm day, as the sun rises, the beauty is there. You know it is temporary, and the lake will soon freeze.
That’s how I see our own changing seasons. Our "in betweens".
You can appreciate things as they are and embrace the messiness as you grow. You can know that some days might seem ominous and other days are beautiful.
You can fight it, stress about it or wish it were different. Or you can be open to your change, navigate it with grace and keep moving forward.
Regardless, change IS happening.
I used to go through harder times or change thinking it would be super stressful, and I would resist it. Guess what? It was SUPER stressful.
Now, I set the intention to go through these times of change with more patience, calm, and grace.
To give more space for the transition.
To allow for the fear and uneasy feelings.
To feel gratitude and be excited about what’s next.
To be present for all of it.
To let go of the old to make room for the new. To trust that things will get better and that you will be okay.
Because the season will change. The lake will turn to ice. There is something new and beautiful on the horizon.
Life keeps moving forward.
Are you?
